How do I install SilverStories?

SilverStories is a Simple 3 Step Process:

1) Place CD in your computer disk drive.

2) A SilverStories image will appear on your screen.  Press install and select your language e.g. English (this is for the spell check function).

3) Once installation is complete press “OK”.  SilverStories will automatically open.  All done.

To find your memoir go to your desktop and double click on the “SilverStories” icon which looks like this: 

NOTE: You can start reliving your life straight away by answering the prompted questions and anything you type will automatically save.  You can jump back and forward from chapter to chapter and anytime you would like to see your memoir just click on the “View Memoir” button to see your progress. 

The Story behind SilverStories?

I created SilverStories because of my mum. She thought it would be a great idea for my Nan to write her memoirs. Nan wasn’t motivated to write her memoirs from scratch as she was in her nineties but my mum sat with her and quizzed her about her upbringing and journey through life. She then typed up the memoirs and gave bound copies to all of our family members and friends. It was then that I realised I didn’t really know anything about my Nan and it made our last few years together extra special. I now regret that I don’t have memoirs from all my grandparents.

SilverStories for lives cut short?

SilverStories can be used by families who are faced with a terminal illness. SilverStories provides the chance to reflect and record the achievements and accomplishments of a special person. Writing ones memoirs can also help to reflect on life and help express true feelings to family through script.

What if I can’t use a computer?

The CD features a printable blank version of all the memoir questions so that you can handwrite your answers. You can then ask a family member or friend to help you use the CD or ask them to type your answers for you.
