15 December 2014 - Best fishing spots in Prudhoe Island & Sarina, Mackay, Queensland
Author: Admin, Comments: 0

My favourite fishing spot in this part of the world is Prudhoe Island off the coast of Sarina, Northern Queensland.  Leave as early as you can in the morning as the south east wind makes the fish head to the reef and it can get really choppy. Use a light rod set up.  Good bait in Sarina and Prudhoe Island is fresh fish, squid or pilchards.  My lures get a good work-up when fishing here as well.  If you feel like camping on Prudhoe Island you can but it’s pretty basic so you would have to be prepared. // On a read more...

03 June 2014 - Best Fishing Spots in Maroochydore, Queensland
Author: Admin, Comments: 2

If in the sunshine coast don’t hesitate to try fishing in the surf at Maroochydore.  The council have manufactured “rocks” made out of enormous blanket stitched sand-filled bags which are perfect to cast from....and obviously used to protect the foreshore. The beach at Maroochydore is very picturesque although is somewhat spoilt my high rise flats and motels. We used sand worms as bait and were lucky enough to catch a good sized flathead. The caravan park is very close to the beach and many of the occupants were fishing as well. If you want an interesting place to fish in Queensland, give Maroochydore read more...

Augusta is on the south west tip of Western Australia where the Cape Leeuwin lighthouse stands at the junction of the Indian and Southern Oceans. // Our first day of fishing was in the estuary of the Blackwood River where it flows into Flinders Bay and the Southern Ocean.  Armed with prawns and mullies as bait we caught a few undersized herring and a sizable read more...

James Price Point is about 53 km north of Broome on a corrugated road which will shake you and your car about a bit. 19 May 2014 - Fishing in Onslow, Western Australia
Author: Admin, Comments: 0

Onslow is a Pilbara coastal town in WA about 1,386 kilometres (861 miles) north of Perth.   // Onslow is very flat and stark with a population of about 700 people. There are mud flats at low tide and lots of shallow water. My first experience of fishing in Onslow was disastrous.  Standing in ankle deep water I endeavoured to throw out my line only for the very smart seagulls pinching the bait off the line before it hit the water – every time!  It was funny, and frustrating, at the same time.  I gave up in the end – they were too smart for read more...

20 March 2014 - Top Fishing Charters in Perth, Western Australia

I have so much fishing gear even I know it's ridiculous but I find immense joy in packing up all my fishing gear from the shed and chucking it in the car to head out fishing. For a lot of people fishing is more of a hobby than a lifestyle so it isn't feasible to own all the gear and go fishing regularly.  Other people love fishing but don't want to deal with all the mess that fishing produces such as gutting, cleaning and storing your catch.  Fishing charters are good for people like this.  You also don't have to read more...

Author: Admin, Comments: 0

In early March 2014 we set off from Bull Creek for Guilderton (just up from Yanchep) for a night at the Caravan Park and a bit of fishing in the inlet where the Moore River reaches the sea.  The sandbar was closed so making the water reasonably calm and not tidal.  When we arrived about noon it was very pleasant weather – sunny and not unduly hot because of a nice breeze.  We had a shady site at the very well run Guilderton Caravan Park which was $45 a night for a powered site. // We set off with our fishing read more...

Recently we took a fishing trip to Quaalup, Fitzgerald River National Park near Jerramungup – east of Albany. Salmon is the main fish we caught in Quaalup and Point Anne. // It took us about 7 hours to get down to Quaalup last Wednesday.  We stopped at Jerramungup for fuel and bait and then headed the extra 80 kms to a very remote camp at Quaalup owned by a couple who also cater for groups for dinner in the old homestead.  We set up camp (we were the only guests) and sat back to relax.
